Russia and Singapore discussing the future trade potential
The Agri-food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore recently addressed Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance in a stating letter with a commitment to start activities to development the trade relationships between Singapore and Russia.
Specifically, AVA was referring to the implementation of mutual inspections of the Russian and Singaporean animal product manufacturing establishments that were scheduled during the meetings held late in 2016.
The Singapore side expressed the intention to hold a ten day inspection of 4 Russian pork and poultry plants. In order to optimize the activities the AVA requested to provide supplementary data on measures taken to control diseases such as African swine fever (ASF), foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and avian influenza (AI) in Russia.
AVA also invited the Russian side to visit animal product plants which are interested in exports to Russia, and asked the Russian officials to provide veterinary and sanitary requirements for imported meat and meat products.
Russian officials stated it will further take all necessary measures to start exports of the Russian animal products to Singapore.
